English Language & Literature
When I first visited Lincoln as a prospective student, I was soon struck by its warmth and character. I joined Lincoln College in October 2014 to study English Language and Literature, and my experience at the College has reflected those early impressions. Currently in my third and final year, I have found my time at Lincoln academically and socially enriching.
Lincoln has given me the basis not only to further my academic pursuits, but also to explore my extra-curricular interests. In my second year, I served as one of two JCR Arts Reps, during which time we helped to establish the JCR Art Collection. The project hopes to build a JCR collection that will make art freely available for students to hang in their college rooms. Once we had decided on the scheme’s structure, we successfully applied to the Annual Fund to help build the collection and reframe a small existing group of paintings. We have, so far, used the money to improve the quality and quantity of the collection, as well as supporting local artists at the Oxford Ruskin School. Thanks to the Annual Fund and funding from the JCR, the collection will soon be made available to students.
