My time at Lincoln can only be described as fantastic so far.  I am currently in my third year and each year has brought different challenges and joys. Several things influenced my choice to study Maths at Lincoln; the central location, small undergraduate population and reputation for superb food were all important to me.  The fact that Lincoln has traditionally done well in Mathematics and has a large cohort in this subject was also a strong pull-factor for me.

I have been supported in several ways by Lincoln’s grants and scholarships.  The Blues Fund has made it possible for me to afford to play golf while at Oxford and I now hold a Blue and am Secretary of OUGC.  This has been deeply rewarding as it has allowed me to keep a balance between my academics and extracurricular activities. It also forces me out of Oxford on weekends - a surprisingly nice break from the manic lifestyle we lead in the 8 weeks.

A travel grant also helped with some of my costs in travelling to Peru and teaching English out there.  I lived with a Peruvian family for a month and had three day weekends to travel and explore. This was a greatly rewarding experience for me and I hope it also made an impact to the Peruvian school children’s education in English. Experiencing such a different way of living and teaching Peruvians about our customs and language is something that will stay with me for a long time to come.
